Cordierite ceramic plug is a custom‑shaped refractory component made of cordierite (magnesium aluminosilicate, chemical formula: 2MgO·2Al₂O₃·5SiO₂), one typical form of cordierite insulating / heat‑resistant ceramic parts.
This ceramic plug is specially designed for high‑temperature working environments with frequent heating‑cooling cycles. Thanks to its ultra‑low coefficient of thermal expansion, it provides outstanding thermal‑shock resistance, which prevents cracking under rapid temperature fluctuation, the most important advantage compared with alumina or steatite ceramic plugs.
